The Prosecutor General discussed several issues of mutual interest with the Deputy Assistant Secretary in the U.S. Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs

Today Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, met the delegation led by Brandon Yoder, Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs. 

 

Marie Kurth, Eurasia Team Lead, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs and Alexis Haftvani, INL Director also participated in the meeting.

  

Anna Vardapetyan greeted the guests, highly appreciated the level of cooperation with U.S. partners in the field of law and highlighted that only a month ago there was a meeting with high-ranking officials of the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Justice.

 

The Prosecutor General thanked Alexis Haftvani, who is completing her mission in Armenia and emphasized her role in supporting institutional reforms in the field of confiscation of the property of illicit origin and investigation of corruption crimes.

 

Brandon Yoder, Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs described the meeting with the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia as one of the most important meetings and highlighted that there is a will to jointly build a stable legal cooperation between the two countries.

 

During the meeting, among other issues of mutual interest, the parties referred to the opportunities for the development of cooperation in the field of legal assistance as well as the priorities of the Prosecutor General’s Office—fight against corruption, development of the institution of confiscation of property of illicit origin, fight against the cybercrime and in this context they discussed the scope of the U.S. support in the above-mentioned directions.
