Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia met the representatives of the Department of State of the United States of America, Department of Justice of the United States of America and U.S. Embassy in Armenia.
Monica Jacobsen, Attorney Advisor of the Office of Legal Advisor of the U.S. Department of State, Jason Carter, Associate Director of the Office of International Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, Paruyr Hovhannisyan, Deputy Minister of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zareen Iqbal and Ann Pings, Trial Attorneys of the Office of International Affairs of the U.S. Department of Justice and Alexis Haftvani, INL director of the U.S. Embassy in Armenia and others participated in the meeting.
The Prosecutor General emphasized the high level of cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Department of Justice of the United States of America.
Anna Vardapetyan presented details of the high-level conference “On strengthening the effectiveness of international cooperation in fighting transnational organized crime” to be held in Yerevan on April 26-27, 2024 with the help of the European Council. 9 delegations from the European counties and high ranking officials of Eurojust and European Council will participate in the conference.
During the meeting, among other issues, they also addressed the possibilities of deepening the legal assistance with US partners in the fields of examination of corruption crimes and confiscation of property of illicit origin and highlighted that similar discussions contribute to the strengthening and development of effective cooperation between the law enforcement authorities of two countries.
During the meeting the parties discussed other issues of mutual interest.
