For the purpose of increasing the efficiency of the fight against illegal drug trafficking, the Prosecutor General’s Office examined several criminal proceedings investigated in the territorial subdivisions of the Investigative Committee.
By the examination of one of the criminal proceedings it was found out that IP M.D. having license for carrying out pharmacy activity, illegally obtained and stored 12 pills containing 1.8 g Pregabalin type of psychotropic substance and illegally sold them to V.G. and M.SH.
By the examination of another criminal proceedings it was found out that IP N.A. having license for carrying out pharmacy activity, illegally obtained and stored 23 pills with the inscription PGN 300 containing 6.9 g Pregabalin type of psychotropic substance.
It was found out by the preliminary investigation of the abovementioned criminal proceedings that the abovementioned activity of IP N.A. and M.D was disguised under the name of pharmacy activity, and drugs containing psychotropic substances were stored in pharmacies.
On August 25, 2023, the Prosecutor initiated a public criminal prosecution against N.A. under point 2 of part 2 of article 393 of the Criminal Code and on September 16, 2023 against M.D. under point 3 of part 2 of article 393 of the Criminal Code.
Detention was applied as a measure of restraint against M.D. and home arrest and signature not to leave was applied against N.A.
Artur Poghosyan, Deputy Prosecutor General submitted written motions to the Ministry of Health on October 12, 2023 for discussing the issue of termination of operation of the abovementioned pharmacies.
On November 15, 2023 the licenses issued to N.A. and M.D. were terminated by the decision of the Licensing Commission of the Ministry of Health.
