On August 17, 2023, the Prosecutor initiated public criminal prosecution against H.P. under Article 342(3) of the RA Criminal Code (breach of traffic rules and operation of means of transportation by the driver of a vehicle or other mechanical means of transportation, which by negligence caused the death of 2 or more persons).
According to the criminal proceedings, it was found that on August 14, 2023, about 00:20, driving his vehicle "Zil-MMZ-554M" along the Yerevan-Gyumri highway and reaching the km 90 of the highway — the administrative territory of Lanjik settlement of Ani community of Shirak region, H.P. did not follow the traffic rules approved by the Government's decision. In the presence of a solid line, which divided the flow of vehicles in opposite directions, indicated the boundaries of traffic lanes in dangerous areas of the road and boundaries of the carriageway, H.P. did not follow the rules of right-hand traffic, crossed the solid line, drove into oncoming traffic lane, in the result of which collided with the vehicle “Volkswagen Crafter” driven by Marlen Margaryan along the oncoming traffic lane.
In the result of the accident, H.P. by negligence caused the death of the driver Marlen Margaryan and passengers Mushegh Eloyan, Lianna Kochinyan, Yeva Parsyan, Nare Amaryan, Helen Dadayan, Amalya Mnatskanyan, Baris Torosyan, Anahit Hakobyan, Alvard Martirosyan, Araik Muradyan. H.P. by negligence caused physical damages of different degree to the health of Margarita Gabrielyan, Lilit Ghukasova, Eduard Sahakyan, Paytsar Avanesyan and Eduard Qoloyan.
Notice: A person charged with any crime shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty in the manner prescribed by the RA Criminal Procedure Code—by the judgment came into legal force.
