Prosecutor General Vardapetyan met with Sobhani, newly appointed ambassador of Iran to Armenia


Today Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia met with the delegation led by Mehdi Sobhani, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Armenia.


Anna Vardapetyan congratulated the ambassador on the beggining of the mission in Armenia and highlighted that a close cooperation was established between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia and Embassy of Iran in Armenia and expressed hope that they will continue to closely cooperate with the newly appointed ambassador.


In the context of deepening and expanding the cooperation between the prosecutor’s offices Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia proposed to held the next event planned by the cooperation program signed in Tehran on November 14, 2018, dedicated to the exchange of experience between the prosecutor's offices of the two countries in the direction of the detection, confiscation and return of assets of criminal origin in Yerevan.


Reffering to the observation of the Iranian side regarding the delay of investigation of criminal cases, under which the defendents of convicts citizens of Iran. Anna Vardapetyan highlighted that the issue is in the center of attention of the RA Prosecutor General’s Office  and highlighted that the cases of adjournment of court sessions, because the prosecutor did not appear at court hearings are almost excluded.


During the meeting a number of isseues of mutual interest were discussed.
