The Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia participated in the 8th meeting of the Interstate Council on Combating Corruption

On July 4, the Prosecutor General of the RA Anna Vardapetyan participated in the 8th meeting of Council on Combating Corruption held in Ekaterinburg and discussed the current issues of combating corruption and ways of overcoming them with the high-level officials of the member states.

 

The meeting was also attended by Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov, Prosecutor General of Belarus Andrei Shved, Prosecutor General of the Kyrgyz Republic Kurmanbek Zulushev, the Head of Anti-Corruption Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Zhumagali, the Head of the Agency of Financial Control and Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Tajikistan Suleymon Sultanzoda.

 

Anna Vardapetyan, before delivering her speech, congratulated her Russian colleague Igor Krasnov, on taking over the position of the President of the Council and expressed hope that the results of the session would contribute to the development of the effective use of prosecutorial response mechanisms in combating corruption.

 

In her speech, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia referred to the measures taken by the Republic of Armenia in the field of combating corruption in the previous period and emphasized that combating corruption continues to be one of the priority directions of the state policy of the Republic of Armenia. In this context, Anna Vardapetyan emphasized the progress made by a number of international organizations in combating corruption in Armenia.

 

Anna Vardapetyan presented to her colleagues the work undertaken in the direction of the establishment of anti-corruption institutional bodies in Armenia after 2019.

 

The Prosecutor General also referred to the reforms of the institute of conflict of interest, the expansion of the range of persons presenting a declaration, the obligation to register gifts received by officials and civil servants, the improvement of the whistleblowing system, the works carried out within the framework of the Anti-Corruption Communication Action Plan, as well as the illegal participation of an official in business activities in the Republic of Armenia provided by the legislation regulations.

 

Summarizing the speech, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia emphasized that Armenia had the will and determination to achieve real results in combating corruption.
